The continued goal of Farming for Growth is to help each and every participant build self-confidence and self-esteem while bonding with individuals with and without different abilities. Developing these skills will carry through into other aspects of their lives and ultimately improve the strength of our community, not only the Kitsap Peninsula but Washington State as a whole.
OUR OBJECTIVE
Farming for Growth is designed to support sustainable and healthy living for people with mental and physical different abilities. Veterans and anyone seeking a therapeutic outdoor experience in Washington State where resources for these populations are scarce. By providing these experiences we hope to achieve natural integration and strength within the community. Farming for Growth functions as a nonprofit, while the participant also has the freedom to sell their produce locally in a farmer market atmosphere. Every donation will go directly into the Farm resulting in each participant having the opportunity to handle the sale of the organic food they grew. With the participant being fully immersed in the farm-to-table process they're able to gain independence.
OUR GOAL
Our main goal is to provide a safe and healthy outdoor environment where through the growing, harvesting and handling process the participants are able to be involved as much as they possibly can. Starting with a seed that grows into a healthy understanding of a sustainable lifestyle, then once harvested will create financial independence.
WHAT FARMING FOR GROWTH MEANS TO US

Physical activity and recreation have long been shown to improve psychosocial wellness among participants and these benefits are amplified when the activity is performed outdoors.

Outdoor recreation has been linked to a variety of developmental and psychosocial benefits, including increased social skills, self-confidence, increased sense of well-being, and increased group involvement.

Developing a culture that can contest those barriers, affects their feelings of belonging and self-involvement within the community, breaks down social barriers and causes able-bodied people in the community to recognize the person before their different abilities.
